Located 4 miles west of Boone on U.S. Highway 30, Seven Oaks Recreation offers outdoor activates during the spring, summer, fall and winter months. Seven Oaks is preparing for their 20th winter season. Seven Oaks features a snow tubing park, and 11 ski and snowboard trails ranging from beginner to expert that are serviced by two triple chair lifts and two surface lifts. Ski and snowboard equipment are available for rent in a wide variety of sizes. Seven Oaks remains committed to helping visitors learn a new sport for life by offering free beginner ski and snowboard lessons or private lessons may be purchased. A team of 35 National Ski Patrol volunteers provide assistance during open hours, all trails are lighted, and two snow cats are used to groom the trails daily. More water and snow machines have been added each year to decrease the time it takes to go from grass to skiable terrain. When the temperatures are right, 1,200 gallons of water are converted to snow per minute which allows for quicker opening and the opportunity to give all trails a fresh coat of snow when needed. Weekly specials include $10 lift tickets on Wednesday and Thursday nights; 2-Fer Fridays (one free lift ticket with the purchase of a ticket); every day kids 7 and younger receive a free ski package with the purchase of one adult ski package; Sunday kids 9 and younger receive a free ski package with the purchase of one adult ski package; birthday party specials; group rates; season passes and more. From May through October, Seven Oaks visitors may take a full service canoe, kayak or river tube float or make a reservation for their group to play paintball. Scenic river floats on the Des Moines River will take you under the longest and highest double-track railway bridge in the world. The Lodge at Seven Oaks and Seven Oaks Conference Center seat 400 guests and is equipped with a fast food restaurant and Coal Creek Lounge. This popular facility is used during the non-ski months for numerous weddings, receptions, parties, and meetings. On May 20th and 21st, 2017, Seven Oaks will host the 6th Gladiator Assault Challenge that is designed to test participant’s endurance, speed, agility, strength and mental stamina. Register for either the full 5+ mile 30 obstacle course mud run, or the 5K Charge with 20 obstacles or the Junior/Parent Gladiator Challenge. Seven Oaks is proud to be an integral part of recreation in Central Iowa. General Manager Joel Bryan is the 3rd generation in the Bryan family spanning 47 consecutive years in the Iowa ski industry.
